Understanding the cap table as a stakeholder

If you’ve received access to a company’s cap table on Unlisted, you’re viewing the company’s ownership structure as shared by its administrators

You might be an investor, employee, or advisor, in any case, your access has been carefully configured to show only the information the company manager has decided to share.

What you can do as a cap table viewer

As a viewer, you can:

  • Access the Cap Table via a link or your portfolio

  • View the information chosen by the company manager

  • See all the accessible info on the cap table

  • View the fully diluted cap table, if allowed

  • Export the Cap Table in Excel format

Let’s go through each option:

Accessing the Cap Table

Depending on how the company has chosen to share access:

  • You might receive a unique link, sent by the administrator of the company's cap table. Simply click it to view the cap table in your browser.

  • Or, if you already have an Unlisted account, you can find it directly in your portfolio if the company administrator chooses to share it with you. When you view the cap table in your portfolio, you’ll see more detailed information than what is available in the public link version.

Tip: If your link has expired, reach out to the company’s contact person to request a new one.

Viewing what the manager decided to share

The cap table you see is customized by the company manager.
Each company can decide exactly which data to make visible to viewers. This ensures sensitive information stays private while giving you transparent access to your relevant ownership details.

Exploring the cap table data

Viewers can see the following key information, depending on what the cap table manager decided to share:

  • The list of stakeholders (shareholders, investors, employees, etc.)

  • The number of shares held by each person or entity

  • Each stakeholder’s percentage of total ownership

  • The share class (e.g., Ordinary Shares, Preferred Shares, etc.)

  • The voting power of each stakeholder

This information gives you a clear snapshot of how ownership in the company is distributed.

Viewing the fully diluted cap table

If the company manager has enabled it, you’ll also be able to view the fully diluted cap table.

This view includes potential shares that could be issued in the future, such as stock options, convertible notes, or warrants, offering a more complete picture of ownership after all instruments are exercised.

Exporting the cap table

You can export the cap table you see into an Excel (.xlsx) file by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.

The export will include exactly what you see on screen, no more, no less, depending on the visibility settings defined by the company manager.

Conclusion

As a cap table viewer, Unlisted gives you easy and secure access to your company’s ownership information, whether you are a stakeholder or not.

Your view is designed to show you exactly what the company has chosen to share: clear, relevant data that helps you understand your position in the company’s equity structure.

You can access it anytime, explore the details, or export it for your records, all while keeping sensitive information protected.
